Boats of all kinds can be seen in the Pacific Northwest because of the many waterways.  The Lake Union Wooden Boat Festival (July 4-5), with its old-fashioned feel and family atmosphere is a great venue to see traditional grassroots boating.  In Kennewick, WA, the Tri City Water Follies (July 24-26) features action packed adrenaline pumping hydroplane racing.  Seattle’s Seafair (July 11-Aug. 2) showcases pirate ships, hydroplane races, and fleet week.  Victoria, B.C., hosts a Dragon Boat Festival (Aug. 14-16) and a Classic Boat Festival (Sept. 4-6) each year in the Inner Harbour.
